Giancarla Vollaro
Giancarla Vollero, Enrico Cuccia’s long-standing personal assistant, was described by Indro Montanelli in 1994, the year in which she died from one of the diseases that medical science has still not succeeded in eradicating entirely, in the following terms: “Despite fully identifying with her work and being unconditionally devoted to the people with whom and for whom she worked, she still managed to carve out a sphere of private interests and affections, taking the greatest care to ensure they did not interfere with her professional activities”.
She wished to donate her savings to a foundation that would provide grants to young researchers working on cancer.
